As a contemporary artist, my paintings are rooted in my interest in shape and form. My paintings may resemble abstracted landscapes looking like topographical maps, occasionally a topic will capture my interest often related to science and technology and numbers or a nebula will appear in what I call my digital landscape.

Working in acrylic, mixed media collage, my work is multi-layers and richly textured. I feel that life itself is complex and often multi-layered and so should my paintings. My aim is to create evocative color relationships of shape and form that are familiar yet open-ended to allow the viewer to complete the narrative.

Born in Brunei (in South East Asia), Jean moved to Vancouver, BC Canada as a child where she now calls home.  She has travelled the world, lived at various places including a sailboat and on the mountains of Whistler.  She studied art at Capilano College and Emily Carr University of Art & Design.
