Carylann Loeppky

I am a contemporary figure/portrait painter-designer + visual artist. Living and working in Vancouver, My 11+ year background in Music Fashion and Design industries gave me structure and foundation for my current painting career. Primarily a self-taught artist. I study and explore each subject as a painting incubates; Part of my process is learning. Knowledge brings the inspiration. It influences and helps to resolve the imperfections, and to complete the work. My background comes through Graphic Design, (12 years with the influential Nettwerk Records). A similar process to creation. My distinct feminine sensibilities are part of the energy and movement. My paintings are familiar and evocative of French and Italian painters from16th to18th century (court painters). I recapture the portrait and figure: in my very own unique style bringing them forward into our modern world ; My work is pinned by an undercurrent of baroque noir impressionism.
